There are two types of inflammation:
1.) Acute inflammation
2.) Chronic inflammation

Acute inflammation is the good kind of inflammation. The kind the body's sends out to heal an injury or an infection.

Chronic inflammation is the type that we don't want. The type that burns low and slow for years due to infection, stress, poor diet, toxins, lack of sleep, etc.
This is the type that can present itself as warm or heat in your joints, skin rashes, swelling in your hands and feet, joint and muscle pain, digestive issues, OCD, anxiety, chronic fatigue, etc.

According to the Global Autoimmune Institute, inflammation is a driving force of autoimmunity.
And according to the Cleveland Clinic, "many autoimmune diseases cause inflammation".
