Buy This; Not That (Part 5)

Back-to-School season is upon us! And as I was in Target last week gathering my daughter's homeschool supplies for this year, I stopped into the grocery section to see which Flare Free ingredients they had in stock that could help your kids eat better this school year.

Back-to-school season is the perfect time to introduce new foods to your kids!

It's naturally a time of change.

Kids have new teachers, new classmates, some of them are going to new schools, and adjusting to new schedules, trying new extra curriculars, etc.

So while they are already in the habit of embracing newness, why not sneak in a few new foods for them to eat?!

Like better eggs for breakfast!

Instead of reaching for the cheap, factory farmed eggs we all know and love, reach for the organic pastured eggs or pasture raised eggs!

Pastured eggs are higher in powerful anti-oxidant rich Omega 3s, Vitamin A and Vitamin D.

"Pasture raised" means the eggs come from chickens that are raised on pasture and eat grass, bugs, slugs, and all the things chickens are naturally supposed to eat. All chickens have to eat a supplemental feed of grains to encourage them to lay eggs every day.

Organic pastured eggs come from chickens that are fed an organic supplemental feed.

These are going to be more nutritious than the "Cage Free" eggs, "Organic Cage Free" eggs, "Free Range" eggs, or "Organic Free Range" eggs as well.

For my American friends, Vital Farms is a very popular brand that you can find almost anywhere. They even sell pre-peeled pastured boiled eggs at some stores!

Walmart and Imperfect Foods will be the cheapest place to find them but that's because they're the smaller eggs they can't sell in other stores at full price.

Pete + Gerry's is my favorite brand because it's more affordable, but they don't come in organic, and they're not as easy to find.

Try sneaking these into your kids' diet this school year to increase their intake of Omega 3s, Vitamin A and Vitamin D!!

Happy Shopping!!
