BUY THIS:

NOT THAT:

Yes, Rao's is on the NO LIST for me too. And no, you don't have to just buy the Primal Kitchens brand! There are other, more affordable options that meet my criteria for a Flare Free jarred pasta sauce!
I just looooove the taste of the Primal Kitchen's jarred marinara. Especially their Roasted Garlic Marinara!
Ask yourself these questions when searching for Flare Free jarred pasta sauce at the grocery store:
1.) Is it organic?
(Tomatoes are typically on the Dirty Dozen List. Even though they didn't make the list for 2024 or 2025, they are a vegetable we know is often sprayed with large amounts of pesticides, so I go out of my way to buy jarred tomato sauce in organic.)
2.) Does it contain added sugar?
(Jarred pasta sauce is a classic source of hidden sugars. Prego has 9 grams of sugar per serving (with 2 grams coming from added sugar), whereas Primal only has 5 grams of sugar - with zero added sugars.)
3.) Is it made with identifiable ingredients (like tomatoes, onions, garlic, salt, basil, etc.)?
(An easy way to ensure you're eating mostly single ingredient whole food products, check to see that all of the ingredients listed on the back are easily identifiable, single ingredient whole foods you don't have to Google!)
4.) Is it made with olive or avocado oil - NOT canola oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil, etc.?
(If you can avoid eating industrially refined nut and seed oils that have a higher concentration of Omega 6s than Omega 3s - which are highly anti-inflammatory and something we need more of in our diet as autoimmune warriors, do it! That means reaching for a jarred pasta sauce like Primal Kitchens that's made with olive oil or avocado oil.)
